Import Requirements by Country
Import regulations vary by country. Here's an overview of requirements for key markets. Requirements change, and we can guide you through the current process for your specific market.
United States
The US facility receiving the product must be FDA-registered. Importers should comply with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), which requires verifying that the foreign supplier meets US food safety standards. Ube powder enters as a dried food product. Fresh ube may require USDA-APHIS clearance depending on the state of entry. Transit time and port of entry depend on your state — see our guides for California, Hawaii, Texas, New York, and Illinois below.
Australia
Australia has strict biosecurity requirements managed through BICON (Biosecurity Import Conditions). Ube powder is generally permitted as a processed food product. Fresh ube imports require an import permit and may be subject to quarantine inspection. All imports require a phytosanitary certificate.
New Zealand
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) regulates food imports. Processed ube products (powder, paste) are generally accepted with standard food import documentation. Fresh produce imports have additional requirements including import health standards and may require a biosecurity clearance.
Canada, UK & EU
Canada requires CFIA compliance for food imports. The UK and EU require compliance with food safety regulations and may require health certificates. Ube powder is generally the simplest format to import into all three markets. We provide all export-side documentation required.
Note: Requirements vary and change regularly. We can guide you through the specific process for your market. To request wholesale pricing or find a Philippine ube supplier for your country and intended product, get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
Importing Ube Into a Specific US State
Port of entry, transit time, and the local buyer landscape all vary by state. We've built dedicated guides for the US markets with the highest ube demand:
Shipping & Cold Chain
Sea Freight
Most cost-effective for large orders. Transit time varies widely by destination — from under a week to nearby markets like South Korea, up to 6–8 weeks for the US East Coast. Reefer containers available for fresh ube. FOB and CIF terms available.
Air Freight
Fastest delivery (3–7 days). Higher cost but essential for time-sensitive orders or fresh ube to distant markets. We use insulated packaging with temperature monitoring.
Packaging Standards
Ube powder ships in sealed food-grade bags (1 kg to 25 kg). Fresh ube ships in ventilated crates (10–50 kg). All packaging meets international food export standards.
Cold Chain Integrity
Fresh ube requires 12–16°C storage. We monitor temperature from farm to port. Reefer containers maintain temperature throughout sea transit. Data loggers track conditions throughout.
